    BAKER TILLY PUERTO RICO, is a local firm of independent Certified Public Accountants and Consultants established in 1982. Through the years, Baker Tilly Puerto Rico has become one of the leading CPA firms in Puerto Rico. At present, it is ranked among the top ten in the island.

    Our Philosophy

    BAKER TILLY PUERTO RICO, CPA’s, PSC recognizes that its most important product is prompt and effective personalized service of the highest quality.     We have a broad and varied client including governmental units, single audits, nonprofit organizations, manufacturing, retailing, construction, insurance, banks, real estate, electronics, communication, colleges and universities, municipalities, agencies, health care and others.

    It is a basic philosophy of the Firm that the services to each client be based on substantive knowledge of the industry of which it is part and believes that this understanding of the client and its industry is of vital importance in rendering constructive services and carrying out assignments in an effective manner.

    License Independence and Quality Control

    BAKER TILLY PUERTO RICO, CPA’s, PSC is authorized to practice as a Professional Service Company of Certified Public Accountants in Puerto Rico and has complied with all the requirements of the laws and regulations for annual registration.

    All personnel of BAKER TILLY PUERTO RICO, CPA’s, PSC are independent in all respects to the engagements they perform. We expect our professional personnel to approach their engagements with objectivity and fairness, and rely on established quality control procedures to ensure adherence to policies designed to maintain independence.

    BAKER TILLY PUERTO RICO, CPA’s, PSC requires that all professional personnel observe and annually confirm in writing their adherence to the independence rules of the AICPA and State Society of CPA’s when they are applicable to an engagement. We also meet the independence standards of the GAO Standards for Audits of Governmental Organizations, Programs, Activities and Functions.

    Our written guidelines also interpret and apply these policies and procedures and stress the importance of our people’s mental attitude of independence toward engagements.

    None of the professional relationships with our clients create an impairment to independence under the AICPA standards and, accordingly, do not constitute a conflict of interest. Further, and possibly more important, none of these relationships create even the appearance of a conflict of interest because they have no direct or significant bearing on the performance of the audits.

    BAKER TILLY PUERTO RICO, CPA’s, PSC is a member of the Private Companies Private Section, of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Division for CPA firms and is, therefore, subject to all quality control (peer review) standards of the AICPA. Our latest peer review was conducted during August, 2018 and received a rate of pass, indicative of the quality of our practice and our commitment to the technical and quality control standards of the profession.   • Managing Partner – José A. Rodriguez, CPA, CGMA

    Graduated with honors with a B.S. in Business Administration, with concentration in Management. He has post-graduated studies with a concentration in Accounting. With over 30 years of experience, Jose’s background includes having worked as Vice President and Controller for a recognized health insurance company as well as Manager for two of the Big Four Public Accounting Firms in Puerto Rico.

    Audit Partner – Joel Díaz, CPA, MBA, GCMA

    Graduated with honors with a B.B.A. with concentration in Accounting and a minor in Finance and Economics, he also has a M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance. With over 20 years of experience, Joel manages the Audit Department of our office serving a diverse clientele portfolio.

    Management Advisory Partner – Rafael Rivera Díaz, CPA, CGMA

    Graduated with honors with a B.B.A. with concentration in accounting. He is a financial planner and the Management Advisory Partner of our Firm. He manages our office’s Small Business Department for most of our manufacturing and retails clients. Rafael has over 20 years of experience in public accounting.

    Management Advisory – Rafael E. Rivera, CPA, CGMA

    Graduated with honors from the University of Puerto Rico with a B.S. in Business Administration. With over 40 years of experience, Rivera manages litigation support and consulting services. America Arbitration Association appointed Rivera as Arbitrator and the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Rico also designated him as Mediator, Neutral Evaluator and Arbitrator.
